Dear All,

One of my undergraduate students is studying women 35+ who play casual
games such as poker and Bejeweled.

She needs some more people to interview through email or in chat.

Does anyone know anyone who plays these games in this demographic and
if so, how the student could contact them? Or any listservs or whatever
that might have such players? She has found several players on MySpace
and Facebook who are willing to talk but they are too young for her

The student has been playing herself but people are reluctant to give
interviews when they have no idea who they are talking to. The games
are only 30 minutes or so so it's difficult to establish rapport.

I think this is an interesting area of research as apparently a lot of
women in this age group play, subverting the stereotype that games are
for young(ish) males.

Thanks for any help.

http://weboggle.shackworks.com/ - as many players as you want, I think, as long as you all put in the same name (e.g. "Team LJ Support") - boggle, but a combined team effort.

Welcome to support_games. The purpose of this community is to discuss games of Literati, Battleship, and whatever other Yahoo game we may feel like playing at the time. In order to join, you must be a Support volunteer or former Support volunteer. This is an open community, so feel free to join, but you'll be removed if you're not from spr0t.

If you're interested in joining the #games fun, feel free to drop us a line in IRC! Connect to irc.zhzh.org and join the channel #games by typing "/join #games". The channel's owner (SOP) is jai_dit, so if you plan on adding it to autojoin, let him know and he'll probably add you to the auto-op list.

The channel bot is called "Boo", and he's utterly useless except for botspam purposes. The bot's owner is me -- Ryan on IRC -- and I've given master access (basically the same controls as me) to remark, jai_dit and exor674 (though I think I accidently reset it, and I'll have to re-grant exor's access).

So, if you have any questions about support_games or #games, feel free to ask. Peace.
